Art in Embassies 2012

I didn't know I knew a US ambassador, but evidently I did! One of my Lake Diary paintings lived in the US Embassy in Maputo, Mozambique for 4 years and now lives on the Michigan Lakeshore in a private home. The Art in Embassies program, started by John and Jacqueline Kennedy in 1963 through the Dept. of State, was created to promote American pride and culture through the universal language of art. Every ambassador displays their collection in the living space where they will entertain other diplomats and leaders. This ambassador, although not from West Michigan, chose to display works from this region where he has vacationed since he was a boy.
